Lady
MacBeth
c. 1015-c. 1057
Her real name was Gruoch, so it's probably for
the best that Shakespeare just calls her Lady MacBeth.
The fictional MacBeths slew King Duncan of Scotland while he was sleeping in their spare bedroom as their
guest, which was just about the most
evil thing
you
could do in the Middle Ages. And it was mostly Lady MacBeth's idea. Mr.
MacBeth didn't want to do it until Lady M nagged him into it.
In the real world, MacBeth probably killed Duncan honestly in open battle, without all that sneaking
along castle corridors that Shakespeare describes.
