Simone de Beauvoir

1908-1986

French existentialist philosopher, writer, social theorist, and feminist activist. Author of the ground-breaking book The Second Sex, one of the foundational works of Second Wave Feminism.

How lesbian was she? For most of her adult life, she was romantically involved with her fellow French existentialist Jean-Paul Sartre (male). She was suspended from teaching for inappropriately touching a 17-year-old girl pupil of hers. Other female students of hers had similar accusations. (Definitely bisexual)
