Rose O'Neal Greenhow
1814-1864
Mrs. Greenhow was a widowed Washington socialite who entertained
many high-ranking blabbermouths and
then passed their military secrets to the Confederates. After she was caught
and exiled to Confederate territory, she went abroad to raise support
for the rebellion. On her way back to the CSA, her boat was intercepted
by the US navy, and she drowned trying to escape.
