Raymonde de Laroche

1882-1919

Raymonde de Laroche was a French flyer who became the world's first female licensed as a pilot in 1910. 

During WW1 she test piloted new warplane designs for the French army. In 1919, she was landing an experimental plane when it went into a dive and crashed, killing both her and her copilot.
