Hydna
of Scione
480 BC
When the Persians invaded Greece, a Greek swimming
instructor, Scyllias, and his daughter, Hydna, swam ten miles through
choppy waters on the night before the Battle of Artemisium to sabotage
the Persian fleet. They cut the mooring ropes of the ships, so when a storm blew in, many ships were dashed against the rocks or swept out to sea.
In the movie 300: Rise of an Empire, she was changed to a man.
