Grace
Darling
1815-1842
When the steamship Forfarshire
wrecked off
Northumbria in 1838, Grace Darling,
the
daughter of the lighthouse keeper, risked her life rowing through
stormy waters to save
the stranded survivors. Grace became a national heroine, celebrated and
lavished with praise and
rewards for the rest of her life.
Unfortunately, this was the olden days when the rest of a person's life
was only about four years.
