Brown
1917-1970
Esther Brown was a nice white Jewish lady in the suburbs of Kansas City
who got miffed that all the funds recently raised by the school board of
Topeka Kansas for citywide school improvements got spent building a
brand
new school for white children, while none it went to fix the
dilapidated school for black children across town. She suspected that
segregated schools violated the Equal Protection Clause. Mrs. Brown
sued the
Board of Education of Topeka Kansas, and the rest is history.

she usually gets left out of that history. She didn't even have a
Wikipedia
article until I created one in October 2025. FFS, every backup
drummer in a garage
band or Andorian Star Fleet officer has an article in Wikipedia, but no
one could be bothered to write a little something about the person
behind the most significant case of the 20th century?
