Catherine of Aragon

1485-1536

Catherine of Aragon was the first wife of King Henry VIII from 1509 until their annulment in 1533. She had previously been married to Henry's elder brother, Arthur, for a short period before his death, which became the excuse Henry used to divorce her when he got tired of her stubborn inability to give him a son.
