Catherine Howard was Queen of England for a couple of years as the
fifth wife of King Henry VIII. By this point in history, Henry had
entered the crazy jealous phase of his reign. When he learned that
Catherine hadn't told him about an ex-boyfriend of hers, he chopped her
head off. Even by Sixteenth Century standards, this was considered
harsh.
