Babe Didrikson
1911-1956
Mildred "Babe" Didrikson Zaharias was a versatile American athlete who
excelled in every sport that existed at the time - golf, basketball,
baseball, track and field. She won two gold medals and a silver in
track and field at the 1932 Summer Olympics before turning to
professional golf and winning 10 LPGA major championships.
She
also proves how bad the Old Days were. Despite being such a perfect
physical specimen, she still dropped dead at the age of 45.
Husband: George Zaharias (m. 1938)
How
lesbian was she?
She looks lesbian, right? In fact, it took lot of arguing to convince
the Artificial Intelligence to give her a woman's body. On the other
hand,
she married a man, and they remained married to the
end of her life. Some writers lean heavily on the fact that she
mentored a much younger female golfer to whom she
was devoted, and who lived with Babe and George, but the twenty year
age difference between them probably made it more of a mother-daughter
relationship. (Probably not lesbian)
